WITH reference to R Greaves's letter (But what about the good ones? November 9), I do agree that all youths and young people are not bad.
Yet you cannot blame the media, TV and cinema for all the wrong things that are done; that is a cop-out.
My car was one that was burned out on November 4. The people that did it knew it was wrong, but still did it for a laugh, I guess. I was not laughing.
What's funny about putting people's lives and homes in danger, endangering the lives of the fire service, who I must say were fantastic and had a hell of a night, as did the police.
Discipline starts in the home; that's where you are taught right from wrong, and that's lacking so much in today's society.
Parents are responsible for their children, not me, you or the media.
I would just like to ask these people why they did it. Did the buzz last all night? Was it good bragging about it the next day to their mates?
If I went into their homes, took a prized possession, stuck it in the middle of the road, set fire to it and laughed would they laugh with me? I think not. I rest my case.
