A level-par final round of 72 saw York golfer Simon Dyson finish in joint-39th place in the HSBC Champions at Sheshan International Golf Club, China.

Dyson shot birdies on the seventh, tenth and 13th holes but mixed them with bogeys at the ninth, 11th and 12th.

This followed an indifferent third-round 74 which featured six bogeys and four birdies.

Dyson never recovered from his opening-round six-over-par 78, which was blighted by the alleged ball-theft controversy when he was docked two shots for a lost ball after it disappeared following a seemingly perfect drive onto the fairway.

He finished the event on seven over par with rounds of 78, 71 74 72.

Korean Yank Yong-eun upstaged some of golf's biggest names to take the title as his final round 69 saw him finish on 14 under par, two shots ahead of world number one Tiger Woods, who carded a 67 as he sought a seventh successive strokeplay event.
