SIXTY-SIX. That's how many no cold-calling zones there are in North Yorkshire - as the latest is unveiled in Tadcaster.

County councillor Chris Metcalfe, along with officers from Trading Standards and North Yorkshire Police were on hand for the launch of the zone in Hillcrest, Tadcaster.

"These zones have proved incredibly effective at deterring criminals and rogue traders," said Coun Metcalfe.

"They give local residents and communities the confidence to say no' to uninvited salespeople and to warn rogue traders and cold-callers that they are not welcome.

"This is the first no-cold-calling zone in Tadcaster, and we very much hope there will soon be others to join it."

The Tadcaster zone marks the first anniversary of North Yorkshire's first no cold-calling zone. Trading Standards officers blitz such zones with signs, house stickers and information packs to deter dodgy doorstep traders.
