RESIDENTS in Fulford have lost Coastliner’s Number 20 service, which previously operated between Acomb and Fulford. The route is now shortened to stop at Heslington Hall.
Buses will no longer serve the Heslington Lane and Broadway area. This means there will be no bus service between Fulford and the new York Sport Village.
It also means residents lose their bus service to Sainsbury’s and Asda at Monks Cross and Tesco at Clifton Moor. I know that there have been some route and punctuality problems with the Number 20.
However, cutting the service is a blow for local people in Fulford.
I have heard fears that it will push some residents into using their cars, while others will be forced to stop using their chosen supermarket or the new sports village.
I made representations to council officers in November and I will continue to closely monitor the situation and the impact it has on local residents, while carrying on my calls for improved local transport links in Fulford.
Coun Keith Aspden, Liberal Democrat councillor for Fulford.
