POLICE are appealing for help to identify two suspected shoplifters following a theft of showers in York.

They were caught on CCTV in the B&Q store at Osbaldwick, at 6.45pm on Thursday, January 3. It is believed they stole 18 Mira shower units worth £3,500.

The first man is between 30 and 35 years, 6ft tall and slim, with short dark hair.

He was wearing a black hoodie with beige shoulders.

The second man is in his late 20s, about 5ft 7ins and medium build. He is distinctive as he has part of his left ear missing. He was wearing a black jumper, blue polo shirt and blue jeans.

PC Tony Barnes, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I am appealing to the two men to come forward if there has been a misunderstanding and they are not involved with this theft, so that I can eliminated them from my inquiries.

“If you recognise either of the men caught on camera, please contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

PC Barnes said: “I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered a shower unit in unusual circumstances and ask them to get in touch."

Anyone who can help to identify either of these men is asked to phone police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Tony Barnes.
