YORK MP Hugh Bayley backed a Royal Mail call for festive greetings and gifts to be posted early when he visited the Leeman Road depot in York.
Mr Bayley said: “Royal Mail delivers millions of items of post at this time of the year. These next few days are the busiest time of the year and I hope everyone will spare a thought for their postie for the work they do throughout the year and the tradition they bring to Christmas.”
Paul Wilkins, Royal Mail delivery office manager at York, said: “Our people do a fantastic job at this time of year to ensure that friends and families stay in touch through their Christmas greetings and gifts. And as usual, we’d like to remind our customers to post early.”
The recommended last posting dates for UK deliveries are Tuesday for second-class mail, Thursday for first-class and next Saturday for special deliveries.

He should have spent some time in the public parcel collection office that's rather busy too - so much for lreaving parcels with neighbours! At least the public can park outside on Leeman Road over the double yellow lines. It's well known in York that a double yellow line signifies free parking as no one accepts responsibility for enforcing the no parking element, same goes for parking on pavements. I call it residents parking.
