WITNESSES are being sought after a teenager was sexually assualted in York.
The woman, who police said is in her late-teens, had become separated from her friends in the ealry hours of this morning following a night out.
She was walking in Walmgate between Merchantgate and Percy’s Lane when police said she was approached by a man who took hold of her and touched her in an inappropriate manner. The incident happened between 3am and 3.40am.
A police spokesman said: “It is believed, that despite the incident being in the early hours of the morning, there were still several people around at the time of the offence who could have witnessed the incident taking place.”
The suspect is described as a white male, around 6ft tall, medium build, aged between 20 and 30 years with dark spiky hair. He has been described as wearing a green shirt with a dark jacket over the top.
Officers have carried out extensive enquiries in the area and are viewing CCTV footage and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or can help identify the suspect.
