BURGLARS broke into a bank in York and tried to get into a cash machine.
They got into the Barclays Bank in Front Street, Acomb, through the roof but did not manage to steal anything, said North Yorkshire Police.
It happened between 10pm and midnight on Sunday. Anyone who can help police is asked to phone officers on 101.
This is not the first time thieves have struck at banks in Acomb this year.
In October, police were called after four masked men ambushed a G4S van which was delivering cash to the HSBC bank in York Road.
They overpowered the courier and stole a cash box before fleeing in a black Vauxhall Zafira car, which was later found burned out near Beckfield Lane. The cash box was found in Carr Lane. Six people were later arrested in connection with the robbery.
In April, another G4S security guard needed hospital treatment after he was robbed by masked men outside the Lloyds TSB branch in Front Street. Three men were arrested in connection with this robbery.
