Twin Pike Way Christmas lights are switched on

IT has become as much a part of Christmas as mulled wine and mince pies for Wigginton residents.

The residents of Twin Pike Way have once again unofficially started Christmas by switching on their spectacular annual lights display, which over the years has raised more than £50,000 for charity.

This year, the money raised will be shared by St Leonard’s Hospice and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, both of which have been supported from the first ever Twin Pike display.

Janet Morley, of Leonard’s Hospice, said: “Once the Twin Pike Way lights are switched on, everyone in York knows that Christmas has really begun. If you haven’t seen them, go along and be amazed. We are very grateful to all the residents for their continued support for the work of St Leonard’s, and we hope that the lights will continue to shine for many years.”

What an amazing street. Took my 2 year old to see it. Loved everybit. First time I've been too and I enjoyed seeing such a fab set of lights. Council could learn that this thing attracts a crowd and therefore revenue into the city.
