TWO motorcyclists have been banned from driving for three months each after police clocked them doing more than 120mph together on a country road near York.
Steve Ovenden, prosecuting, told the city’s magistrates that property owner John Senior, 50, was doing 130mph on a BMW RR 1000 in Escrick Road between Stillingfleet and Escrick, and his companion, engineer Mark Senior, 52, was doing 124mph on a BMW R 1200 machine on the afternoon of September 22. The speed limit was 60mph.
Both men, of Station Road, Ossett, pleaded guilty to speeding. John Senior was fined £500 with £45 costs and £15 victim surcharge and Mark Senior was fined £400 with £45 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
Mark Senior said he would not be riding a motorcycle again because he had sold his bike. John Senior said he had just done a short burst of speed.
Both men were caught by the police’s mobile safety camera unit.
