FUNDRAISERS across York and the region have done their bit for the BBC’s Children In Need appeal.

Among the many efforts, junior school pupils at The Mount School in Dalton Terrace, “showed their spots” in a variety of dotted clothes and held stalls to raise more than £500 for the appeal.

Teacher Vicky Smart said: “We have had a fantastic morning and parents and children have been very generous and we have had a great time.”

At Pryers Solicitors in Stonebow, staff aim to raise £1,000 by cycling as far as possible in one day on an exercise bike, while Tang Hall Primary School staff and children went to school in bright colours in exchange for a 50p donation.

At Straylands Day Nursery, Malton Road, children and staff have been making cakes and biscuits to sell to parents, grandparents, friends and family as well as donating a pound to dress in a spotty or yellow outfit for the day.

At Ralph Butterfield School, in Haxby, pupils dressed up and sold cookies while Rainbow Playgroup in Acomb and Stockton on the Forest Day Nursery carried on the dressing up theme by wearing their pyjamas.

Pupils at Goole High School and sixth-formers at the Joseph Rowntree School in York wore fancy dress for the day to raise money.
