Heroes from care industry are recognised at awards ceremony
8:42am Tuesday 13th November 2012 in News
THE unsung heroes from our region who provide care to the sick and vulnerable were recognised at a glittering award ceremony at York’s National Railway Museum.
Care home workers from Ryedale and York were among the winners in the 19 categories at Friday evening’s Great Yorkshire and Humberside Care Awards which are supported by the Department of Health.
Tiffany Hunt and Joanne Hindmarsh, from The Alba Rose Partnership in Pickering, both topped their group.
Alison Bedford of AIKMO Medical Ltd, in Whitby, took the best registered care home manager title.
The Dementia Carer Award went to Bryan Thorpe, of City of York Council, who was praised for his “unique and passionate person-centred approach”.
The winners will now be invited to attend the national finals which take place in London in April and June next year.
