THIEVES stole a red Triumph 1050 Sprint ST motorbike from a car park in Boroughbridge.

The bike, registration YJ07UWU, was parked at Lister's Farm Shop in Leeming Lane at Langthorpe, between 2pm and 3.30pm on Wednesday, November 5.

North Yorkshire Police said a man briefly entered the shop to enquire if any tarmac work was required at about the time of the theft, who was described as white, of medium build, around 5ft 5in tall, with swept-back dark hair which is receding. He was wearing a fluorescent waist coat and work wear.

Police said a white Ford Transit van, which was dirty and in poor condition, with a patch of rust about the rear doors, was also seen leaving the shop car park at around the same time.

PC Neil Roworth, of Boroughbridge police, said: "From our enquiries into the incident, it is suspected that the motorcycle was lifted into the van and driven away. Someone out there knows who was responsible for the theft and I am appealing for people to come forward with any information that could help to recover the motorcycle or identify the suspects."

Anyone with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101, email Neil.Roworth@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
