YORK Light Opera has chosen 18 children from the 120 who auditioned for the March production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound Of Music.
Intensive rehearsals are underway, the children now divided into three teams of the Von Trapp family that will share the performances during the two-week run at York Theatre Royal.
In the red team are Sam Rippon, Nathan Christy, Grace Brown, Kitty McNeill, Madeleine Hicks and Roxarna Read, while the blue team comprises Charlotte Johnson, Alastair Coughlan, Sam Lightfoot-Loftus, Naomi Halliday, Maggie Wakeling and Gina Blenkiron. The yellow team features Ellie Melvin, Sam Lightwing, Tobias Webb, Hannah Richardson, Amy Sykes and Francesca Mitten.
The production will run from March 6 to 17 at 7.30pm plus Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets are on sale on 01904 623568 and online at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk; early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
