LIVE owls will take to the air in Red Shoes Dance Studio’s winter show, starring alongside trolls and ghosts in the Wizards’ Ball in the double bill of The Nutcracker and Red Hot Shoes at the Grand Opera House, York.
The Nutcracker also features rats, but rest assured they will not be of the live variety in a show that will be performed by a cast of 160 dancers under the direction of producer and choreographer Sandra Watson.
“The Nutcracker is one of the most popular ballets ever created with a magical score by Tchaikovsky that is simply a delight for all the family,” says Sandra, inviting you to join Clara on her adventures with the Nutcracker prince as they battle rats and journey to the Kingdom of Sweets.
Part two of Sandra’s show, Red Hot Shoes, will be “an explosion of musical theatre, tap and jazz dance that’s sure to get your feet tapping and you dancing in your seats”.
Performances will start at 9am on Wednesday; 7pm on Thursday; 2pm and 7pm next Friday and Saturday. Tickets cost £8 on 0844 847 2322.
