YOUTH reigns at Theatre Royal for three weeks from tomorrow when adults will have to take orders from children and young people.

The entire management team for the TakeOver09 festival is aged under 26, as are front of house staff, backstage production staff and others.

The 16 productions will feature youth such as Peter Shaffer’s Equus with the York Theatre Royal’s Young Actors’ Company, award-winning puppet show The Man Who Planted Trees, A Five-Star Werewolf by young writer Gabriel Bissett-Smith, and Come Fly, flight-based story-telling and games for young children.

Well-known classics such as Shakespeare’s Hamlet and A Winter’s Tale and Kafka’s The Trial and comedy shows also feature.

The festival is part of the Arts Council’s plan to involve more young people in the arts and theatre and includes free tickets for theatregoers aged under 26.
