BREAKING Tradition Dance Company will return to their regular stamping ground of the Ye Olde Fighting Cocks pub to present The Lock In 'Remixed', a live music and dance extravaganza featuring the musicians of The Demon Barbers,.
From the company that performed The Lock In 'Christmas Carol' comes a show that brings Britain's oldest forms of folk dance bang up to date in a lively celebration of dance culture. Look out for elements of Grimm's fairytales, brand new choreography, pool-cue sword-dancing and hip-hop Morris dancing.
In next month's 7.30pm performance at York Theatre Royal, a group of hip-hop dancers will arrive at an apparently deserted pub but local rumour has it that this tumbledown inn is frequented by other-worldly characters and as the regulars descend, a clash of cultures soon turns into a dancefloor stand-off.
For their part, The Demon Barbers will be taking English folk music on a new journey into the worlds of hip hop, house, funk, disco, drum & bass and ska.
Tickets cost £18, with concessions available, on 01904 623568 or yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
