YORK superstar drag act Velma Celli will swap the West End stage for a one-off cabaret appearance in The Basement, at City Screen, York, on September 16.
Velma Celli is the alter ego of actor Ian Stroughair, who has starred in such musicals as Cats, Fame, Chicago and Rent, and carved out a career in cabaret, theatre, film and television. Velma once burst through the doors of the Queen Vic in a "rather epic and belty guest appearance" in the BBC1 soap opera EastEnders and this summer she will appear in Henry Mason's feature film Night Of The Lotus.
Doors will open at 7.30pm for the 8pm start next month. Tickets cost £15, concessions £10, on 0871 902 5726 or at thebasementyork.co.uk
