YORK Stage Musicals will be bringing a classic tale of singing nuns to the Grand Opera House stage in September.

They will be performing their very own version of the West End and Broadway smash Sister Act from Friday, September 12, to Saturday, September 20.

Based on the 1990s film starring Whoopie Goldberg, Sister Act tells the story of wannabe diva Deloris Van Cartier who is forced into hiding in a convent when she witnesses a crime.

Despite the suspicious attention of a watchful Mother Superior, it’s not long before Deloris helps the sisters find their voices.

The York Stage Musicals version will feature West End star and BBC1’s I’d Do Anything finalist Cleopatra Rey in the role of Deloris, and will be directed by Nik Briggs.

• Tickets £12 -£25 from the theatre box office or on 0844 871 3024.
