MARTIN Barrass will be joined in this summer's revival of The Wind In The Willows by fellow York Theatre Royal pantomime star Jonathan Race, while Michael Lambourne completes a trio of actors returning to their roles from the August 2010 show.
Martin will play the impetuous Mr Toad again; Jonathan, the amiable Ratty; and new father Michael, the splendidly Victorian whiskered Chief Weasel in artistic director Damian Cruden's revamped production.
In 2010, York playwright Mike Kenny's stage adaptation of the Kenneth Grahame novel was presented on an "in-the-round" set built across the stalls with seating behind on the proscenium arch stage and the new floor rising to the level of the dress circle.
The 2014 revival will have a "new configuration to surprise and delight", designed by original designers Catherine Chapman and Lydia Denno with lighting by Richard G Jones.
The compositions of musical director Christopher Madin once more will accompany the ever-popular story of Ratty, Mole, Badger and Mr Toad that involves boating on the river, adventuring in the Wild Woods, battling weasels at Toad Hall and a few mishaps with new-fangled motor cars.
The Wind In The Willows will run from July 31 to August 30. Tickets can be booked on 01904 623568 or at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
