NEW Earswick Musical Society director Ann McCreadie and musical director Don Pears will hold auditions for the children’s roles in Miracle On 34th Street tomorrow at New Earswick Folk Hall at 7pm.

Any children aged seven to ten who wish to attend should contact phone Mavis Massheder on 01904 769371 or Ann McCreadie on 01904 781846.

Miracle On 34th Street began life as film in 1947 before Meredith Wilson converted the warming Christmas tale into a stage musical that made its Broadway bow under the name of Here’s Love in 1963 before reverting to its maiden name.

New Earswick’s production will run from November 6 to 9 at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, including a Saturday matinee.

In Wilson’s Christmas musical, a little girl discovers Santa working in New York but she needs to convince her mother that he exists and that she has found him in the shape of Kris Kringle, a Santa Claus hired by Macy’s store.

“Full of music and lively dialogue, this heart-warming show bounces along to a happy and all-round satisfactory conclusion,” says press officer Mark Dosser.
