JOHN Haigh and Toni Feetenby will take the lead roles of lovable Cockneys Bill Snibson and Sally Smith in York Musical Theatre Company’s spring production of Me And My Girl.

Directed by chairman Paul Laidlaw, the multi-award-winning musical will run at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, from April 9 to 13.

Haigh and Feetenby, playing the parts most associated with Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson in the West End, will be joined by two relative newcomers to the society, Emma Dickinson and Matthew Ainsworth, as the affluent Lady Jaqueline and the Honourable Gerald Bolingbroke.

Richard Bainbridge, not long since directing the show in Northallerton, will be Sir John Tremayne, appearing alongside society stalwart Moira Murphy’s dignified Maria, the Duchess of Dene.

Further principal roles go to Mick Liversidge as Herbert Parchester; Philip Cousins, Lord Jasper Tring; Mike Wash, Charles; Derek McMahon, Lord Battersby; Val Williams, Lady Battersby; Jenny Cohen, Mrs Brown; Darren Lumby, Bob Barking, the Pearly King; Anna Mitchelson, the Pearly Queen; Jo Wragg, Mrs Sophia Stainsley-Asherton; Aimie Ryan, Mrs Worthington-Worthington; Rachel Thackrah, Lady Brighton; and former policeman Malcolm Poole as the Constable.

“With a cast of almost 40, Me And My Girl is a great ensemble show with fantastic chorus numbers such as The Sun Has Got His Hat On, Weekend At Hareford and the much-loved Lambeth Walk,” says Paul Laidlaw.

Laidlaw’s cast will be rehearsing at New Earswick Primary School from now until the production run. Tickets are on sale from the York Theatre Royal box office, 01904 623568, or online at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
