What will the TV Baftas be like with Sue Perkins as the host?

Graham has spent 10 years at the helm of the TV Baftas ceremony, but the gig will be in safe hands with comedian Sue, who has plenty of presenting duties under her belt.

She has previously said she is “beyond chuffed” to be “keeping his seat warm”.

Often seen as part of a duo with Mel Giedroyc, Sue and her comedy partner won legions of fans as the hosts of baking competition The Great British Bake Off for its seven series at the BBC, although they will not follow the programme to its new home on Channel 4.

Perkins and Giedroyc met at university in Cambridge, where they were members of the Footlights theatre group and went on to present their own lunchtime show for Channel 4, Light Lunch, as well as an evening version called Late Lunch from 1997 to 1998.

Their ITV chat show, Mel And Sue, had a brief run during 2015 and the pair have written material for other performers including French and Saunders.

From 2007 to 2009, Sue teamed up with food critic Giles Coren to present two BBC series called The Supersizers Go… and The Supersizers Eat…, in which they spent a week living off food from a different historical period.

Perkins has often been a guest on panel shows including Mock The Week and QI, and since her success on Bake Off she has taken on further presenting duties, including hosting BBC panel show Insert Name Here, commentating on BBC game show Can’t Touch This, and co-presenting Sky competition The Big Spell with Joe Lycett and Moira Stuart.

Mel and Sue also recently hosted the BBC charity contest Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief.

Her radio work has included being a panellist on BBC Radio 4′s The Personality Test since 2006, and chairing the station’s panel game Dilemma, and she performed solo stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2005 and 2006.
