Nicolas Cage and Vanessa Hudgens swapped freezing Alaska for sweltering Leicester Square at the world premiere of The Frozen Ground.

Wearing a nude and gold-sequinned Jenny Packham jumpsuit, Vanessa turned out to promote her leading role as a prostitute attacked by a serial killer in Alaska.

Nicholas plays the only cop prepared to take her story seriously in the true story about the killings and together the pair go on a hunt for Robert Hansen, played by John Cusack.

Former High School Musical star Vanessa, 24, performs a pole dance in a strip bar in her underwear during one scene.

She said: "It's always nerve-wracking but what you've got to do is just go for it. Me and the director didn't talk about it until right before it happened. It wasn't supposed to be glamorous or professional - my character takes a hit of something really strong right before she does it so it's meant to be clumsy and raw and it feels that way."

Nicholas, 49, said of his co-star: "People are going to be blown away by her performance in this movie. She's outstanding, I knew she would be when we were working together. This is a new Vanessa Hudgens that people haven't seen before and I think it's going to be great for her."

Other guests at the Vue West End, Leicester Square premiere included Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel and the Duchess of Cambridge's uncle Gary Goldsmith.

The Frozen Ground is released in cinemas on July 19.
