Shailene Woodley was a big winner at the Teen Choice Awards, with two of her films dominating the movie categories.

The actress's dystopian action film Divergent and weepie drama The Fault In Our Stars both took home several surfboard trophies at the ceremony in Los Angeles.

Divergent was named Choice Movie: Action, and Shailene and her co-star Theo James both won the Action film acting gongs, with Shailene beating the likes of Emily Blunt, Lily Collins, Elle Fanning and Angelina Jolie to the coveted title.

The Fault In Our Stars, which is based on John Green's bestselling book about two cancer-stricken teenagers who fall in love, won Choice Movie: Drama, and Shailene was presented with the Choice Movie Actress: Drama prize.

Her co-star Ansel Elgort won the drama acting award and the 20-year-old - who also appeared alongside Shailene in Divergent - was also named Breakout Star.

The Fault In Our Stars also won Choice Movie Chemistry, Choice Movie Liplock, plus Choice Movie Scene Stealer for Nat Wolff.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was named Choice Movie: Sci-Fi/Fantasy and its stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Donald Sutherland were honoured in the acting categories.

Donald was presented with the Choice Movie Villain award for his portrayal of President Snow in the big screen adaptations of Suzanne Collins' books.

The 79-year-old stayed true to his character and tossed berries to the crowd as he collected his award, referring to the poisoned berries in the first Hunger Games film.

"I wouldn't eat them if I were you," he joked.

Other winners in the film categories included The Other Woman, which won the comedy award, and 22 Jump Street, which won gongs including Choice Summer Movie and Choice Summer Movie Star for Channing Tatum.
