Farrah, Cut Out And Keep (Lojinx) ***
MELODY is important to Farrah, whose third record contains more of the jingles and catchy sounds which have become the trademark of York songwriter Jez Ashurst and his London-based band.
Cut Out And Keep doesn't break the mould - its easy-listening, Beach Boys sound reflects the musical landscape.
This 11-tracker doffs its cap more than once to The Feeling's Twelve Stops And Home but, unlike that huge success, you sense this could have been even better.
Fear Of Flying is an impressive single, with plenty of mainstream appeal, but opening track Dumb Dumb Ditty is exactly as its title suggests, and you just wish there was more edge to a band that can best be described as inoffensive.
On the bright side, School Reunion and No-one Stays Together suggest there could still be more to come. Let's hope that's the case.
