BUOYED by airplay for debut single Faithful on BBC Introducing and the NME website and the headline slot at this year’s York Carnival, York band Panda Cubs play a home-city gig at Fibbers tomorrow night.

After performing at the DV8 festival in York, an appearance at the Galtres Festival awaits Panda Cubs later this month and London gigs are soon to be announced.

As heard on the dark pop of Faithful, their self-confessed morose undertones and heavy drumbeats hit the listener with obvious comparisons to Interpol, Editors and at times even FrYars, while echoing the New Wave scene of the late Seventies and early Eighties.

Also on tomorrow's 7.30pm bill are Chatfield, an alternative indie rock four-piece from Sheffield, plus Battle Lines and Porcelain Paradise.
