After 43 years of leading Jethro Tull to 54 countries and selling 60 million albums worldwide, Ian Anderson is to embark on a 13-date acoustic tour that will arrive at the Grand Opera House, York, on September 20.

“I’ve always wanted to go out in the UK with a small line-up, to play and to restructure the songs and music for a more intimate and personalised performance,” says Ian. “After many years of performing in this way for radio broadcasts in the USA, it seems like fun to bring this approach to the UK fans, old and new, and to make them feel like they are in my living room for an impromptu family concert.”

He will be touring in a trio with German guitar virtuoso Florian Opahle and pianist, accordionist and percussionist John O’Hara, performing Tull acoustic classics, rare songs and other re-arranged Tull rock material. New pieces specially written for the tour will make an appearance and the audience can expect anecdotes and musical surprises too.

Tickets cost £25 or £22.50 on 0844 847 2322 or grandoperahouseyork.org.uk
