Nerve Senta’s reunion gig at the Post Office Club, York, on May 28 has sold out.

“There is no door entry fee available, so anyone hoping to pay on the door will be turned away unfortunately,” says lead vocalist and guitarist Garry Barrett, who will be joined by John Foottit on lead guitar and vocals, Geoff Locker on drums, Gary Varley on bass and vocals and Ian Cole on keyboards.

The York band is reforming for one night only: a chance to recall their four-year run of gigs in their home city and the surrounding area from 1977 to 1981.

Their musicianship so impressed local entrepreneurs Dave Leaper and Mal Spence that the Supermusic Ltd bosses invited them to cut an album at Fairview Studios, in Hull. The subsequent self-titled record contained 12 original tracks, ten written by Garry.

“It proved to be immensely popular, attracting new fans in and outside the city and enabling us to fill each venue to capacity whenever we played,” he recalls. “It was also reviewed by the Yorkshire Evening Press’s very own music guru, the late Stacey Brewer, who called it ‘a debut album full of musical action’.”

Those songs will be rolled out once more at the May 28 reunion at 8pm, alongside newer material from Barrett, Foottit and Varley’s later band, Overload.
