YORK party band Huge return for a rare home-city outing on Saturday (May 15) at the Ainsty pub, on Boroughbridge Road, where doors open at 7pm.
“We’ll be playing a set with anything from The Rolling Stones to The Kings of Leon and everything in between,” says lead singer Big Ian Donaghy.
“We’re taking the opportunity to use the Ainsty as a warm-up show for the Hull University summer ball when we’ll be sandwiched between Biffy Clyro and Chipmunk!”
Big Ian has just played an acoustic gig with Roachford in Leeds, while Huge have performed a homecoming gig for their frontman at Wolsingham School, where he taught as a young teacher, having earlier attended the Weardale school “as a lad”.
“The gig was to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, and in one night £4,400 was raised and the audience reaction was superb,” says Big Ian. “Not much happens in Weardale usually, so to stick a nine-piece band with a massive light show - even bigger than we use for our Grand Opera House shows – was quite an event.”
Tickets for Saturday’s gig are on sale on 01904 798147 or on the door.
