NORTHERN Irish banjo player and folk singer Damien O’Kane introduces his debut solo album, Summer Hill, tonight at the National Centre for Early Music, Walmgate, York.
Best known for his work with Shona Kipling and Flook, O’Kane is now a member of Kate Rusby’s band (as well as her partner with a new daughter, Daisy Delia, to boot).
O’Kane, from Coleraine in County Derry, will release his album on Rusby’s label, Pure Records, on May 3. The title track features Rusby on vocals and other musicians include Ian Carr, Dave Kosky, John Joe Kelly and Michael McGoldrick.
