FOR five years, Stephen Triffitt played Frank Sinatra in The Rat Pack in the West End. Now he is starring in a new tribute show, Sinatra Live At The Sands, whose tour heads to the Grand Opera House, York, on February 11.

Tickets for the 7.30pm performance cost £21, concessions £20, on 0844 847 2322 or online at grandoperahouseyork.org.uk

Triffitt can call on the experience of playing The Sands Hotel in a seven-week stint and he has five solo tours of Stephen Triffitt Celebrates Frank Sinatra to his name, plus Sinatra Birthday Gala Concerts and sell-out performances at the Royal Festival Hall and the London Palladium.

His new Sinatra Live At The Sands show recalls “possibly the most famous and hard-swinging live performance Sinatra ever made”, as captured for posterity on the 1966 album of the same name. “It was probably the most exciting engagement I’ve ever done in my life,” Ol’ Blue Eyes said at the time.

Recreating the ultra-relaxed lounge of the legendary Copa Room at The Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Triffitt’s concert is powered by a full band emulating the Count Basie Orchestra under the musical direction of a young Quincy Jones.

“My show highlights all the different guises Frank had at his disposal and features some of his best-loved hits such as Under My Skin, Come Fly With Me and My Kind Of Town, some of his most famous saloon ballads and some of his most exciting but lesser-known songs such as Get Me To The Church On Time,” says Triffitt.
