THE Shepherd Group Brass Band is to perform with renowned jazz player Gerard Presencer at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, University of York, on October 24.
Joined by percussionist Graham King at 7.30pm, they will present the premiere of a new work by Siobhan Lamb, one of Britain’s brightest up-and-coming composers. Commissioned by the band, Siobhan has created a fusion of jazz and brass.
Gerard also will hold a masterclass at the band’s rehearsal room at Portakabin Ltd, Huntington, York, from 10am that morning, when refreshments and light lunch will be included. The band’s musical director, Tim Oldroyd, will launch the latest addition to his range of professional Geneva trumpets and Siobhan will talk about her musical creation.
