GIMME That Swing play music for 18 to 80 year olds at The Winning Post, Bishopthorpe Road, York, next Friday from 8.45pm.

The York ten-piece aim to fill the gap between today’s new teen sounds, Seventies’ rock groups and the big dance band sound.

“Each number has specific arrangements for the line-up and we perform everything with fun but professional dexterity, playing a repertoire that will have everyone up and dancing through the evening,” says lead singer Dawn Worcester-Jameson.

“We seem to have something for everyone. While you might not like every number, we do a very wide and varied performance, from Billy Holiday’s Ain’t Misbehavin’, through Amy Winehouse, to Chelsea Dagger.”

Gimme That Swing formed in 2007 and, after a few changes, the line-up features a full rhythm section, two vocalists and a three-piece brass section of saxophone, trumpet and trombone.

“We’ve started to feature at some major events over the past year, such as the Bands In The Barracks outdoor charity concert last July at Imphal Barracks, and we’re continuing to impress at regional and national corporate events throughout Yorkshire,” says Dawn.

“If you’re thinking about that wedding, charity ball, dinner party or outdoor function, take a look at us.”
