THE closing date is fast approaching for the chance for five schools or colleges to host a private gig by North Yorkshire pop stars Elliot Minor this spring.
Social network MySpace is to run School Invasions for a second year, following the success of last year’s launch when Kate Nash, The Wombats, Fightstar and DJ Ironik played Harrogate Grammar School.
To enter the competition, pupils aged 13 to 18 are invited to visit the MySpace School Invasions Tour profile myspace.com/schoolinvasions to vote by a deadline of March 27. They can earn extra votes by uploading pictures and videos, becoming a member of their MySpace School’s community and sending a banner to their friends encouraging them to vote.
In five regions – Scotland, North, Midlands, South East and London and South West and Wales – the school with the most points will win a gig plus £1,000 worth of music equipment.
The winning schools will be announced on April 10, and the Elliot Minor tour will run from April 27 to May 1.
