TINA Turner will play her re-arranged Sheffield Arena show on May 5.

On her first British tour in nine years, the 69-year-old comeback queen was advised by doctors to take six days’ rest after she contracted respiratory flu on March 10, forcing her to postpone her fifth night at London’s O2 Arena and her only Yorkshire gig, in Sheffield, on March 12.

The London concert will now go ahead on May 3. Concert promoters Marshall Arts ask Sheffield and London ticket holders to retain their tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates, but those unable to attend can claim refunds from the point of purchase up to April 6.

Turner announced her retirement from touring in 2000, the year she played one of her “farewell” concerts to 55,000 people at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium. However, buoyed by her return to the stage at the 2008 Grammy Awards, she played American dates last year, followed by this month’s British shows.

Sheffield Arena was the last UK venue to be added to her Tina Turner Live Tour, whose itinerary included London, Manchester and Birmingham. Tickets cost £100, £75 or £50 on 0114 256 5656 or online at sheffieldarena.co.uk
