POCKLINGTON Arts Centre plays host this weekend to an acoustic showcase for acts in the Beverley Folk Festival.

The Neumes, The Hut People, Jess Bannister, Graham Hodge and Mean-Eyed Cat are lined up to perform at the festival from June 20 to 22.

Arts Centre events organiser James Duffy says: "We're looking forward to having the five diverse acts play here on Sunday; we heard the Cherry Burton preview show in May was a great success.

"As well as some great music, this is a perfect opportunity for anyone who hasn't been to the festival to find out more about what's planned for this month and how to get tickets."

The Neumes are a Goole five-piece fronted by sisters Charlotte, Emily and Eleanor, who fuse pop, jazz, folk and rock in unusual self-penned material; The Hut People are dynamic duo Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond; Jess Bannister, 18, from Swanland, won the Hull Talent Trail competition last year; York guitarist and singer Graham Hodge will be airing songs from his All You Own album; and Hull band Mean-Eyed Cat cover Hank Williams to The Fratellis.
