ONE act at York’s Little Festival of Live Music next month will be particularly Kitsch. York band Kitsch, to be precise.

They were among more than 500 applicants from up and down the country to take part in the September festival and have been selected to perform a 6pm slot in the Music Marquee, in Parliament Street, on the last evening, September 30.

"Kitsch have been playing at festivals and gigs across Yorkshire for just a short time," says Little Festival curator Ellen Cole. "They're thrilled to be performing at this year’s festival and delighted to be playing alongside such established performers as Chris Helme, who first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire’s post-Stone Roses band The Seahorses; prog-rock folk musician Heather Findlay; gentle folk-Americana voice of an angel Edwina Hayes and big beat music collective Grinny Grandad."

Kitsch say: "We play an exciting mix of pop covers and originals, including our single Miss Creativity, which received great reviews, and we’re looking forward to playing at York’s Little Festival of Live Music. We've always admired this festival as it offers both established and new bands the opportunity to perform. We’re all established performers, but our band is relatively new to the music scene and we’re thrilled to be part of such a great community event."

Ellen adds: "I'm over the moon that Kitsch will be taking part in this year’s festival. They're a great band with great energy and I know our audiences will love the type of music they perform. Ava, the lead singer, has an amazing voice and I could listen to her sing all day. They play a wide range of material and I firmly believe that Kitsch have a bright future ahead of them."

Other performers chosen to appear at the festival include Toni Bunnell; Leather’o; Dan Webster; Joshua Burnell & Band; Laura Kindelan; Smith n Wallace; Fiona Lee; Robin, Gordon and Bushy; Simon Bolley Band; Slack Habits and Mulholland.

Look out too for The Bronze; Kitty VR; Bull; Andy Doonan; The Blueprints; Flora Greysteel; Atomic Raygun; Kymberley Kennedy; Unsigned Songwriter of the Year winner Gracie Falls; Boss Caine and North Lincolnshire folkies Ramble Gamble, who return to the event after rave reviews in 2016.

York’s Little Festival of Live Music will run from September 22 to 24 and 27 to 30 at 5pm to 9pm each evening. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
