YORK'S West End star and cabaret turn Ian Stroughair goes solo tomorrow (August 12) in his latest instalment of The Velma Celli Show at The Basement, City Screen, York.
Stroughair, the man behind Velma's magnificent make-up, has appeared in such musicals as Chicago, Cats, Fame and Rent, as well as enjoying a varied career in film and on television, not least turning up in Velma Celli mode on BBC1's EastEnders. He also starred opposite Danny Dyer in the video for Lucy Rose's song Nebraska.
Tomorrow's cabaret revue will take in classic show tunes, jazz standards, Bassey, Beyoncé and everything in between. "Switching from impressions of some of your favourite divas, such as Britney Spears and Cher, to stripped-back acoustic arrangements of popular pop songs in ways you have never heard them, this rollercoaster of a cabaret really hits every spot," he promises.
Doors open at 7.30pm for the 8pm start. Tickets cost £15 online at thebasementyork.co.uk
