AFTER playing a "secret gig" to 150 gold ticket winners at The Crescent Community Venue on March 7, Texas will return to York on September 21 on their 21-date autumn tour.

Tickets for the York Barbican concert go on sale on Friday at 10am on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.

The tour will follow the April 21 release of the Glaswegians' ninth studio album, Jump On Board, on the BMG label: their first since their 2013 comeback with The Conversation ended an eight-year hiatus since 2005's Red Book. In the intervening years, lead singer Sharleen Spiteri recorded the solo albums Melody in 2008 and The Movie Songbook in 2010.

Spiteri and fellow Texas stalwart Johnny McElhone have written and produced Jump On Board, whose BBC Radio 2 playlisted first single, Let's Work It Out, is accompanied by a video that stars French footballer Thierry Henry. Meanwhile, look out for Spiteri's upcoming appearances on BBC1's Saturday Kitchen and BBC Breakfast.

The Texas tour also will visit Sheffield City Hall on September 16; tickets at gigst.rs/texas
