RICK Witter and Paul Banks's gig for Independent Venue Week at Fibbers in York tonight has sold out.

The Shed Seven frontman and guitarist will welcome guests Boss Caine, Harrison Rimmer, Marck Whiley, Amy Humphrys and Zac Roughton, introduced by compere Alex King after doors open at 7.30pm.

"So what’s all this about Independent Venue Week, then?" says Fibbers boss Tim Hornsby, who will mark 25 years of running live music bars in York this year. "Small venues are the bedrock of the live music industry and without them new acts would have nowhere to play and learn their trade.

"Fibbers has been performing this service since 1992, hosting some of the world’s biggest bands on their first tours – and some of them even come back and repay the favour! Which is where the Shed Seven boys come in."

Mr H looks forward to "a whites-of-their-eyes show" by Witter, "the thinnest man in pop with the biggest voice and the warmest personality", and Banks, "an electrifying showman in his own right and a player with an instantly recognisable style and sound". Expect a "holler-along to some of the best anthems ever," he predicts.

The night will end with an after-show DJ set by Kate Ramsay.
