THE Stone Roses will play two shows at Leeds First Direct Arena on June 20 and 21 next summer.

Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9.30am at gigst.rs/SR, Eventim.co.uk,  gigsandtours.com and ticketmaster.co.uk

Tony Watson, the arena's director of sales and marketing, said: "We’re absolutely delighted that The Stone Roses have now chosen to add us to their London and Glasgow stadium dates and we can’t wait for their fans to experience our legendary acoustics in such an intimate format. If you’re a Stone Roses fan, Leeds is the place to be."

Formed in Manchester in 1983, The Stone Roses were pioneers of the Madchester scene, spreading good vibes, along with fellow Mancunians Happy Mondays, on their era-defining 1989 album The Stone Roses and its tardy sequel, the grandly titled Second Coming.

Guitarist John Squire went on to form The Seahorses in 1996 with two York musicians, singer Chris Helme and bass player Stuart Fletcher, releasing one album, Do It Yourself, but imploding during the making of a second one.

Squire and his childhood friend, frontman Ian Brown, stopped speaking but after a 16-year hiatus, the second coming of The Stone Roses came with their resurrection for two concerts at Heaton Park, Manchester, in June 2012.

Cult filmmaker and Stone Roses devotee Shane Meadows filmed their step-by-step progression towards one of British rock's most iconic reunions, releasing his DVD documentary of the comeback shows, Made Of Stone, in 2013.

Since then the Roses have bloomed anew, the re-formed line-up of Brown, Squire drummer Alan "Reni" Wren and bassist Mani playing four June nights at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, compounding this new summer of One Love by releasing two singles in quick succession, All For One in May and superior Beautiful Thing the following month.
