THE Charlatans are to play Scarborough Open Air Theatre on June 16 next summer.

Formed in 1989, Tim Burgess’s band have chalked up 22 Top 40 singles and three number one albums, 1990’s Some Friendly, 1995’s The Charlatans and 1997’s Tellin’ Stories, and their 12th studio set, 2015’s Modern Nature, peaked at number seven.

Burgess said: “We’ve played some truly memorable gigs in Yorkshire down the years and we expect another unforgettable night in Scarborough next summer. Yorkshire crowds have always been among our warmest and loudest supporters and we cannot wait to play for them again.”
