RICHARD Hawley's sold-out Fibbers show in York tomorrow was first announced as a matinee but will in fact be a night-time acoustic set.

"Please note, due to scheduling issues, this show is now on in the evening, doors opening at 7.30pm," says Fibbers boss Tim Hornsby. "All tickets are still valid."

Afternoon or night, Mr H is delighted to be bringing Hawley to Fibbers. "Richard Hawley is Sheffield’s poet laureate; lover of all things vinyl, especially rockabilly and rock'n'roll 45s; ridiculously talented guitarist and songwriter and probably one of the most exciting and relevant musicians of our time.

"Richard brings us wonderfully crafted songs, forged from a long performance history beginning with rock'n'roll in Eighties' Hamburg between the strippers; through the TFI Friday days of Longpigs; three years touring with Pulp and on to a burgeoning solo career."

Mr H goes on to say: "Richard's debut full-length album, Late Night Final, with its soaring pop tunes, showed a much wider skill set than the emerging term ‘Americana’ would have him pigeonholed with. He's a consummate performer, a man-of-the-people who consistently pushes his own boundaries to bring us yet more musical riches. And here he is, performing in a duo, at Fibbers on Saturday night."

As for the other Mr H, Hawley says: "As long as I'm playing a guitar, I'm happy", be that on a Saturday afternoon or now a Saturday night in York. His website says the show has sold out, making him happier still no doubt.

As a bonus, Hawley's set will be preceded by York's king of the support slots, the rumbling voice of Boss Caine.
