BUT Seriously and The Essential Goin’ Back albums completes the 16-disc box set, which encompasses Phil Collin’s eight studio albums and their companion collections of early demos and live recordings.

The quality of the remastering, and care given to the artwork and sleeve notes throughout this collection, set new industry standards and raise expectations for future reissues.

Originally released in November 1989, But Seriously… caught the driving force of the Eighties' Genesis frontman at his creative and commercial zenith. Indeed, the parent album that scored hits such as That’s Just The Way It is, Something Happened On The Way To Heaven, I Wish It Would Rain Down and Another Day In Paradise earned Mr Collins nine times platinum sales in the UK alone, and one of the first essential albums of the new decade.

The final album in the set dates from September 2010. Goin’ Back featured Phil’s covers of Sixties and early Seventies soul, mostly originating from the Tamla Motown songbook.

The choice of material, such as Some Of Your Lovin’ and Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever, are wisely chosen for Collins’s earnest vocals. Perhaps less successful was an ambitious cover of The Temptations’ Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone. Regardless, Goin’ Back also reached gold status in Britain.

The enhanced collection includes a second disc of live versions of the original set, plus new readings of My Girl, Dancing In The Street, Ain’t That Peculiar and Stevie Wonder’s Signed Sealed Delivered.
