STEVE Lamacq first brought Oasis and Coldplay to public attention, now his latest prodigies have released their second album in the midst of a meteoric and unlikely rise in fortune only matched in 2016 by Leicester City.

Like the Foxes, Van McCann's team are terribly unfashionable. Most critics dismissed them as none hit wonders in the same way Jamie Vardy's first three goals in as many games were called a fluke.

And look what happened then.

Now it's the Bottlemen's turn to have the last laugh. With their debut, the people spoke louder than the critics. Here it's more of the same laddish, no-nonsense, dated rock and it'll go down a storm at this summer's festivals.

McCann has opted for a Ramones if it ain't broke approach and fans will be pleased he has. There's nothing clever here, nothing thought provoking, but if you're happy enough with stripped down guitar songs designed to accompany Saturday night sessions in the Students' Union, this will do very nicely.
