COLDPLAY'S Chris Martin famously called himself a “poor man’s Fran Healy", while going on to credit Travis as inventing Coldplay “and lots of other bands”.
Praise indeed, but Travis themselves are highly influenced by fellow Scottish bands such as Deacon Blue, Hue And Cry, Danny Wilson and Texas.
All the same, fortunately, eight albums down the line, and incidentally 19 years on from their debut album Good Feeling, Healy and his band members Dougie Payne, Andy Dunlop and Neil Primrose are still masters of crafting melodic, instantly likeable pop with an edge.
Travis have an amazing ability to deliver great radio-friendly material in their own instantly identifiable style. In particular, Everything At Once presents three classic pop songs of the year, namely What Will Come, Magnificent Time and the psychedelic 3 Miles High. This trio justifies adding this album to any well respected collection, but also look out for the bonus live recordings of Closer and Sing for additional value.
