YORK prog rock band Mostly Autumn have been invited by the re-formed Rainbow to support Ritchie Blackmore and co at their one-off British comeback show at Birmingham Genting Arena on June 25.

Looking forward to opening next month's sold-out concert, Mostly Autumn  guitarist and principal songwriter Bryan Josh says: "We're incredibly honoured by this invitation. I'm sure any other rock band on Earth would have jumped at the chance to be part of this prestigious and nostalgic event, but Ritchie Blackmore chose us.

Bryan Josh: "I would have simply exploded"

"Ritchie was the reason I picked up a guitar at ten years old; if you’d have told me then that this would happen I would have simply exploded."

Mostly Autumn first forged a link with Ritchie Blackmore when being invited to tour as the support act to his present band, Blackmore's Night. On Friday, they will warm up for their June 25 performance with a home-city gig at Fibbers on Toft Green, where doors will open at 7.30pm. Tickets can be booked at fibbers.co.uk
