YORK Orchard Musical Theatre Company will present The Phantom Of The Opera at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, from February 3 to 6.

Phantom will be their second production, following the success of last July's debut, Jekyll And Hyde: The Musical, after the company's formation in 2014.

This 1986 Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, with lyrics by Charles Hart with additions from Richard Stilgoe, is based on the French novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra' by Gaston Leroux. Its plot, should you need reminding in the West End show's 30th anniversary year, revolves around beautiful soprano Christine Daaé, who becomes the obsession of a mysterious, disfigured musical genius.

The Orchard cast will be led by Ria Williams as Christine Daaé; Scott Goncalves, The Phantom; Sam Lightfoot-Loftus, Raoul; Sophie Walmsley, Meg Giry, and Charlotte Lynch, Madame Giry. Megan Conway will play Carlotta Giudicelli; Rob Fisher, Ubaldo Piangi; Matthew Dangerfield, Monsieur Firmin, and Sam Lightwing, Monsieur Andre.
