THE All Souls Orchestra will return to York Barbican on Saturday night with their flagship event, Prom Praise York.

Under the energetic direction of principal conductor Noël Tredinnick, this joyful fusion of performance and worship will combine the spirit of BBC1's Songs Of Praise with the style of the BBC's Last Night Of The Proms. Consequently, the whole hall can join the choir and orchestra in favourite hymns and songs of worship.

Saturday's 7.30pm event will feature dynamic gospel artist Beverley Trotman, who rose to fame when reaching the 2007 finals of The X Factor after many years as lead singer in gospel choirs, thrilling ITV viewers with her rendition of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good. Beverley has been Prom Praise soloist since 2010 when her performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall was featured on the album How Great Thou Art.

Trumpet player Giles Fowler, who has joined the All Souls Orchestra as a soloist on many occasions, will play the lively virtuoso showpiece, Arban’s Carnival Of Venice.

The Prom Praise York Choir will gather from all around the area to lead the Prom Praise audience in song and the St Aidan's High School Chamber Choir, from Harrogate, will add their voices to Saturday's line-up. Familiar with the big stage, having won the Senior Choir of the Year prize in BBC1's Songs Of Praise Choir Competition in 2006, the St Aidan's choir has featured in the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, London, too.

Saturday's Prom Praise will be co-hosted by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu. Tickets cost £18.70 to £24.75, with £5 off for under 17s, on 0844 854 2757 or at yorkbarbican.co.uk
